Zweiter Neuzugang kommt aus den USA

Maeve Carroll ist der zweite Neuzugang der Diamonds für die Saison 2023/24. Die 24-jährige Amerikanerin spielte in der vergangenen Saison in der Topliga Portugals für Clube Galitos Aveiro. Mit durchschnittlich 11,2 Punkten und 7,1 Rebounds führte sie ihren Club bis ins Pokalhalbfinale Portugals. Ihre Collegekarriere verbrachte Maeve an der University of Maine. In der stärksten Universitätsliga der Welt war sie mehrere Jahre die tragende Säule der Black Bears. Auch hier konnte sie durch ihre Double-Doubles regelmäßig glänzen.

Why did you choose to play for the Diamonds?

I chose to play for the Diamonds because I think it’s a really good fit for a player like me. I love to work hard and get better with my team and I think this is a great environment and family-like team dynamic that I can’t wait to be a part of. 

What do you expect from next season?

I expect this team to come together and play the game in a way that works for all of the assets we have on the court along with becoming close off of the court this season.

What are your goals for next season?

My goals for this next season is to put the Diamonds in the best possible situation to compete to the best of our ability and have fun doing so. 

At what age did you start playing basketball?

I started playing basketball when I was 7 years old.

What was the coolest moment in your basketball career?

The coolest moment of my basketball career was last season when I was playing in Portugal and I hit a tip-in buzzer beater to get to the final four of the Portuguese Cup.

Do you have other hobbies than basketball?

Other hobbies I have include snowboarding, watching movies, and hanging out with my friends.

How would you describe yourself as a basketball player?

As a basketball player, I would describe myself as a very hard working undersized player- I get a lot of offensive rebounds, execute hustle plays, and find a way to score the basketball whether it’s inside or driving to the basket.

What are you looking forward the most?

I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates and exploring the beautiful city of Dillingen!
